Dealing with nausea

Nausea is an unpleasant and distressing symptom that can be caused by vertigo and many other conditions. The word nausea refers to the sensation of wanting to vomit. In order to understand the best way of dealing with nausea it will probably be best to begin by describing what is actually happening when we want to throw up.

When we feel nauseous it means that the part of our brainstem that creates the need to vomit is being stimulated. The reason we have this area of the brainstem for this particular purpose is that the ability to vomit if vital for our survival. Vomiting allows our bodies to rid itself of poisons or things that can harm our body. Sometimes this part of the brain stem can be stimulated when there is no real need for it to be in action. This is what happens with something like vertigo. The area of the brainstem responsible for vomiting becomes increasingly stimulated.

The feeling of nausea makes life miserable so it is only natural that we want to eliminate this feeling as quickly as possible. The most usual way of dealing with nausea associated with vertigo is through medications. These medications will work by stopping the signals reaching the brain stem that tell us that we need to vomit. Antiemetic drugs will work on the central and peripheral parts of the nervous system that are responsible for nausea and vomiting. There are also claims that natural remedies might help with these symptoms. Homeopathic remedies and what you can do with vertigo

When the nausea that we are experiencing is caused by vertigo then the best way to deal with things fully will be by treating the cause of the vertigo. The medications can ease the symptoms but the cause will need to be removed. Vertigo occurs when there is interference in the normal working of the vestibular system. This vestibular system is really important because it is responsible for allowing us to maintain our balance and tells the brain where we are in relation to space. Damage to any part of the system can lead to the unpleasant feelings of vertigo; instability, a feeling of being lightheaded the perception of spinning as well as wanting to throw up. Nausea is just one of these symptoms. The treatment for the vertigo will depend on what is causing the problem, and in some cases it can take a few weeks for things to settle down. This means that medications will likely be needed during this time to control the worst of the nausea and prevent vomiting. Makelink(Medications-used-for-treating-vertigo.html)
